BRENDA GOODMAN: A Life on Paper

14 November - 19 December 2015
Paul Kotula Projects is very pleased to present Brenda Goodman: A Life on Paper. This special survey exhibition offers an extended view of intimate works by this noted New York artist. A native of Detroit, Goodman is recognized for her emotionally packed and brutally sincere autobiographical paintings and works on paper. Over the course of six decades she has moved through various degrees of representation and abstraction, performing with graphite, paint and other materials as mediums connected to her soul. Her work has mediated stories of profound loss and spirituality, the poetics of joy and beauty, and the consciousness of personal identity in an ever-evolving American culture.

Brenda Goodeman: A Life on Paper will run concurrently with Brenda Goodman: Selected Work 1961-2015, an exuberent survey of the artist's paintings presented at Center Galleries at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.
